Starting May 30, Pakistan will host Australia national cricket team for three ODI match days across Rawalpindi and Lahore as both sides prepare for a busy international season before the next ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
The schedule confirms one ODI in Rawalpindi and two matches in Lahore. Australia are expected to arrive in Islamabad on May 23 ahead of the opening game at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
The remaining two ODIs will take place at Gaddafi Stadium on June 2 and June 4.
The three match series gives Pakistan another high profile home assignment after several successful international tours during the last few years. Cricket activity in Rawalpindi and Lahore is also expected to increase sharply during the series week with hotels, transport services, restaurants, and local businesses preparing for heavy visitor movement around stadium areas.
Pakistan Team Is Confident
Australia have toured Pakistan more regularly in recent years after international cricket fully returned to the country. Their last ODI series in Pakistan took place in 2022. Pakistan won that series 2 to 1 after strong performances in Lahore.
The two teams also faced each other earlier this year in a T20I series. Pakistan won all three matches in Lahore and completed a 3 to 0 clean sweep.
That result gave Pakistan confidence in white ball cricket before another important season. Australian players also gained experience in local playing conditions, especially on batting friendly pitches in Lahore.
World Cup Planning Begins
The ODI series comes at an important stage for both teams. With the next 50 over World Cup approaching, selectors are expected to test combinations, bench strength, and bowling options during the three games.
Pakistan may continue using experienced fast bowlers along with younger middle order players who are trying to secure long term places in the ODI squad. Team management will also monitor player workload because the international calendar remains crowded through the year.
Australia are likely to use the tour to adjust to subcontinent conditions. Lahore and Rawalpindi pitches often produce high scoring matches, especially during evening games where dew becomes a major factor in the second innings.
The short schedule also creates pressure on recovery and fitness. The series will finish within six days, leaving limited time between matches for travel and training sessions.
