The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has issued a critical advisory for all Pakistanis living abroad, warning of a surge in fraudulent activities targeting identity and consular services.
If you are currently residing outside of Pakistan, your personal data and financial security may be at stake.
The Core Warning “No Authorized Agents”
According to the latest post on “X”, NADRA has officially clarified that it does not recognize or authorize any third-party agents, consultants, or “partner” organizations to process identity documents or online applications on its behalf.
Despite advertisements that may appear professional or claim an affiliation with the government, these entities have no legal standing with NADRA. Engaging with them poses a severe risk of identity theft and financial fraud.

Protect Yourself by Only Using Official Channels
To ensure your information remains secure, NADRA advises that all services are provided exclusively through the following official, government-monitored platforms:
- Official Website: Always ensure the web address ends in .gov.pk. Use only www.nadra.gov.pk.
- Official Mobile App: Use the Pak Identity (Pak ID) mobile app, which is the secure, all-in-one platform for applying, verifying and accessing ID services from anywhere in the world.
- Diplomatic Missions: In-person services are handled exclusively at authorized NADRA registration centers located within Pakistani Embassies and Consulates abroad.
Immediate Safety Steps for Expats
The rise in “NADRA-style” websites designed to steal data is a growing concern. Follow these guidelines to stay safe:
- Never Share Personal Data: Do not provide your CNIC number, passport details, or financial information to any individual or organization claiming to “assist” you with NADRA work unless you are at an official Embassy counter or on the verified Pak ID portal.
- Verify Before You Click: Avoid clicking on suspicious links in emails or SMS messages. Always type the official NADRA URL directly into your browser.
- Use Official Support: If you are unsure about the legitimacy of a service, contact the official NADRA Helpline at 1777.
Stay Informed: Fraudulent actors often use high pressure tactics or promise “expedited” results to bypass official channels. Remember: legitimate government processes for NICOP, CNIC, and other documentation are streamlined via the Pak ID app and official counters.
Always verify your service provider and protect your digital identity.
