Good news for drivers in Pakistan. The government has reduced the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs5 per litre.
The new prices are active from today, May 16, 2026. This cut will bring some relief to citizens after recent price hikes.
New Fuel Prices in Pakistan
Here are the official new rates:
- Petrol: Rs409.78 per litre (was Rs414.78)
- Diesel (HSD): Rs409.58 per litre (was Rs414.58)

Why Did the Prices Go Down?
Fuel prices in Pakistan change regularly depending on the global oil market. This Rs5 drop comes just one week after prices went up by nearly Rs15 per litre.
Over the last few months, fuel costs have gone up and down frequently due to global supply issues. The government reviews these rates to match international market trends.
While the Rs5 cut is small, it is a helpful step for families managing their monthly budgets.
