Punjab Launches Apna Khet Apna Rozgar 2026, Registration Start and End Dates Announced

The Punjab government has officially introduced a major project called the “Apna Khet Apna Rozgar” (AKAR) Program for 2026. This initiative is designed to help landless farmers and unemployed people in rural areas by giving them agricultural land and financial support.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz launched this scheme to reduce poverty and improve the farming sector in the province.

For many years, families in rural Punjab have worked as laborers on land owned by others. Without owning their own land, these families often stay in a cycle of poverty. The AKAR scheme aims to change this by providing 124,374 acres of fertile land to those who truly need it. This project is not just about giving land, it is about providing a sustainable way of living for thousands of families.

Detailed Eligibility Criteria and Who Can Benefit from AKAR 2026

The Apna Khet Apna Rozgar Program is strictly for people who live in Punjab. To ensure the land goes to the right people, the government has set specific rules. The main goal is to help those who have the skills to farm but do not have the money or the property to do so.

To be eligible, you must be a permanent resident of Punjab. You will need a valid Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) issued by NADRA. If your CNIC is expired, you must renew it before the application deadline. The program focuses on landless farmers, which means people who do not currently own any agricultural land. However, small farmers who own very little land and cannot support their families may also be considered.

The government is looking for specific groups of people to apply. This includes unemployed youth in rural areas who want to start their own farming business. It also includes agricultural laborers and women who are already working in the fields but do not have any legal rights to the land. If you have previous experience in farming, your application might be given more importance because the government wants to ensure the land is used productively.

Rural WomenTo empower women who are already active in agriculture
Low-Income FamiliesThose struggling to meet basic needs due to unstable wages
Agricultural LaborersWorkers who currently earn daily wages on other people’s farms

It is important to remember that this land is strictly for farming. You cannot build permanent houses or commercial buildings like shops or factories on this land. If the government finds out that the land is being used for anything other than crops, they have the right to take the land back.

Financial Support and the Land Allotment Process

The Punjab government has reserved Rs160 billion for this project. This is a very large amount of money meant to ensure that the people who get the land also have the resources to grow crops. Simply giving land is not enough if a farmer does not have money for seeds, fertilizer, or water. Therefore, the scheme includes a “Settlement and Development Grant.”

Each successful applicant will receive a one-time grant. This grant ranges from Rs50,000 to Rs250,000 per acre. This money is meant to help the farmer prepare the soil, buy high-quality seeds, and set up irrigation systems. The land being distributed has already been checked for soil fertility and the availability of water, ensuring that the new owners can actually grow healthy crops.

Under the “Apni Zameen, Apni Mehnat, Apni Fasal, Apna Rozgar” vision, the land will be given on a 10-year lease. This gives farmers a long time to build their business and become financially stable. The government has identified 13,812 agricultural lots in various districts and another 16,685 lots in the Cholistan region.

To make sure the farmers succeed, the government is also providing technical help. An agricultural officer and a trained intern will be assigned to every lot. They will guide the farmers on which crops are best for their specific soil and how to use modern farming techniques to get more harvest. A committee will visit the farms twice a year to check the progress and help with any problems.

How to Apply and Important Deadlines for Applicants

The application process for the Apna Khet Apna Rozgar Program is designed to be simple and transparent. The government wants to avoid middle-men or agents who might ask for money. There is no fee to apply for this program. You should only use the official Punjab government website or visit designated district offices.

The application window is very short, so you must be prepared. The portal will open on May 2, 2026, and will close on May 18, 2026. During this time, you must fill out the form accurately. Providing wrong information, such as lying about your income or land ownership, will lead to immediate rejection and could result in being banned from future government schemes.

Once you submit your application, the government will verify your details using the NADRA database and land record systems. If there are too many applicants for one piece of land, a fair draw (balloting) will be held to choose the winner. If your application is rejected and you think it was a mistake, you can file an appeal with the Deputy Commissioner between June 1 and June 8.

Official timeline for the 2026 scheme

  • Registration Start Date: May 2, 2026
  • Application Deadline: May 18, 2026
  • Appeals Period: June 1 to June 8, 2026

When applying, make sure you have your CNIC, proof of residence (domicile), and any documents that show your current financial status. If you are applying as a woman or a young person, mention it clearly in the form as these categories may get special attention.

By providing land to those who have nothing, the Punjab government is trying to build a stronger rural economy. This program gives people the chance to work for themselves instead of working for others. It is a big step toward making Punjab a place where every hard working person has the chance to succeed in agriculture.

If you meet the criteria, make sure to apply before the May 18 deadline to secure your future.
