What Did He Plan? The Dark Secrets Found After the White House Dinner Shooting

An open notebook detailing the written plans of the shooter, titled The Friendly Federal Assassin

On the night of April 25, 2026, the annual White House Correspondents Dinner (WHCD) was interrupted by a violent attack that has left the world searching for answers. While the event is usually a night of jokes and politics, it quickly turned into a crime scene when a gunman opened fire near the security area.

President Donald Trump and the First Lady were safely moved out of the building, but the real story began to unfold only after the police caught the suspect.

The Secret Life of Cole Tomas Allen

The man behind the attack has been identified as Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old from Torrance, California. For those who knew him, the news was a shock. Allen was not a typical criminal. He was a highly educated man with an engineering degree from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and a master’s degree in computer science.

He worked as a part time teacher and a video game developer. In 2024, he was even named “Teacher of the Month” at a tutoring center.

However, investigators have now found a darker side to his life. Allen traveled across the country to Washington D.C., staying as a guest at the Washington Hilton where the dinner was being held. Police found that he was carrying a shotgun, a handgun, and several knives.

Even more disturbing was what he left behind: a written “manifesto.” In this document, Allen called himself a “Friendly Federal Assassin.” His writings showed a deep hatred for the current government and specific religious groups, revealing a long-term plan to commit violence.

What Was in the Attacker’s Manifesto?

According to the FBI and Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, the manifesto was a detailed plan. Allen did not just want to cause chaos, he had a specific list of targets. The document stated that he intended to attack members of the Trump administration, starting with the highest ranking officials and moving down the list. He also wrote about the security at the hotel, claiming that he found it easy to move around despite the presence of the Secret Service.

The investigation took a major turn when Allen’s brother contacted the police. Reports say the suspect sent his writings to his family just before the attack. While the brother alerted the authorities, the message did not arrive in time to stop the shooting.

During the incident, Allen fired between five and eight shots near the security checkpoint. One Secret Service agent was hit, but his bulletproof vest saved his life. The suspect was eventually tackled and tied up by security teams, and a photo of him in custody was later shared by President Trump on social media.

Global Consequences and the Impact on Pakistan

The shooting has had immediate effects far beyond the United States. Because of the security crisis, a high-level diplomatic mission to Pakistan was canceled at the last minute. This trip was very important for both countries to discuss trade and regional security. For people in Pakistan, this shows how a single violent act in Washington can change international plans and delay important partnerships.

President Trump has promised that the White House Correspondent’s Dinner will be rescheduled within 30 days. He told the media that while the presidency is a dangerous job, he will not let “sick people” stop the government’s work.

As the FBI continues to look into Cole Tomas Allen’s background, security experts are now asking how an educator with no criminal record could become a “lone wolf” attacker. The focus is now on preventing similar incidents at future high profile events.
