PTI Rallies for Imran’s Release and Save Constitution

Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Salman Akram Raja, Asad Qaiser in a press conference today

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its political allies have officially announced a new wave of nationwide protests. During a joint press conference in Lahore on Saturday, the “Tehreek-e-Tahafuz Ain Pakistan” (TTAP) council shared its plan to mobilize the public. The movement aims to protect the Constitution of Pakistan and secure the release of PTI founder Imran Khan, who remains in custody.

The meeting brought together several prominent figures, including Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Salman Akram Raja, Asad Qaiser and Latif Khosa.. These leaders mentioned that the current political and legal systems are failing the citizens.

Achakzai specifically pointed out flaws in the electoral process and criticized the decision to take away PTI’s iconic election symbol, calling it a blow to fair play.

A National Movement for Constitutional Rights

The alliance leaders emphasized that their struggle is not just for one party, but for the fundamental rights of all Pakistanis. Salman Akram Raja stated that the future of Pakistan’s democracy is linked to the fair treatment of its leaders. He called on workers, farmers and the general public to join the rallies, describing the upcoming protests as a “democratic struggle” to reclaim the rule of law.

Legal expert Latif Khosa raised serious concerns regarding recent changes to the law. He argued that these changes might hurt the independence of the judiciary. According to Khosa, a free court system is essential for justice, especially in the ongoing legal cases involving Imran Khan.

The alliance believes that without a strong and independent judiciary, the Constitution cannot be fully protected.

Economic Pressure and the 1,000-Day Milestone

Beyond legal issues, the PTI leadership is focusing on the daily struggles of the common man. Asad Qaiser highlighted the rising cost of living, noting that inflation is making it impossible for laborers and farmers to survive. He announced that the party would lead the fight against the recent increases in fuel and electricity prices.

The timing of this announcement is also symbolic. PTI leaders noted that Imran Khan has now spent approximately 1,000 days in detention. They alleged that the former Prime Minister is being denied basic rights, such as regular access to his family and legal team.

While the party calls these conditions a violation of human rights, the government continues to deny these claims. Government officials maintain that all legal actions against Khan are following the standard process of law.

The Strategic Plan for Nationwide Rallies

The alliance has not yet released the full schedule of dates, but they confirmed that rallies will take place in all major cities. The goal is to create a peaceful yet powerful show of public strength. By bringing together different political groups under the TTAP banner, PTI aims to show that the demand for constitutional rule is a shared goal across different provinces.
