KPK vs ISB – Government Offices to Shut Down Tomorrow

KPK Government Offices to Shut Down Tomorrow - protest announced

Peshawar (May 5, 2026): The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has officially called for a province wide “pen-down strike” tomorrow. This move is a protest against what provincial leaders call the “unfair and biased” behavior of the federal government.

Why is the Strike Happening?

Chief Minister Sohail Afridi stated that the federal government is discriminating against the province. According to the CM, the federal authorities are not giving KP its fair share of resources. The main issues include:

  • Financial Delays: Problems regarding the NFC Award (the province’s share of national funds).
  • Energy Resources: Unfair treatment regarding electricity and gas supplies.
  • Political Targeting: The CM claims the federal government is intentionally targeting KP because it is led by the PTI party.

Details of the Protest

The strike is scheduled for Wednesday, May 6. All government offices across the province will stop working. However, the Chief Minister confirmed that emergency services will remain open to ensure the public is not put at risk.

A Call to Lawyers

Chief Minister Afridi also appealed to the legal community. He asked lawyers who support the constitution and the rule of law to participate fully in the strike to show their support for provincial rights.
